Man charged with assault
Patrick Dwayne Buckanaga Jr., 45, of Box 194, Ponsford, has been charged in Becker County District Court with felony domestic assault, felony fifth-degree assault and felony first-degree criminal damage to property.
On April 18 a White Earth police officer dispatched to the Chief Corner Store in Becker County met with an "extremely upset" woman who had been at the Buckanaga residence.
According to court records, they have been in a significant relationship for three years, have a child together and another child on the way.
She told the officer they had been riding around in a vehicle and returned to the Buckanaga home, where he became angry with her for some reason. She was placing their 2-year-old child into a car seat in the back seat of her car to leave, when he allegedly threw a pop bottle at the car's rear window, breaking it and showering broken glass over the child and the woman.
He then allegedly took her cell phone away and wouldn't let her leave or take the child away, according to court records.
He has two prior convictions for domestic abuse, in 1999 and 2006, according to court records.
A warrant was issued for his arrest Thursday by District Judge Mark Hansen.
