Man charged with stealing multiple guns
A Hitterdal man made his first appearance Monday in Becker County District Court on three felony charges including property theft, first degree burglary, and first degree burglary-possession of a dangerous weapon or explosive.
Peter Nathaniel Gillespie, 22, of 28630 100th Ave. N., Hitterdal, is accused of breaking into an Audubon residence on Nov. 21 and stealing multiple firearms, including three that were stored in a kitchen cupboard and a 12-gauge that was resting beside the door.
According to the criminal complaint, the owners were inside the home asleep at the time the alleged incident occurred.
Gillespie is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting his next court appearance, at a Dec. 9 Rule 8 hearing. His bail was set at $5,000 with conditions, or $75,000 without conditions.
