Man in court for assault, strangulation of woman

A Detroit Lakes man has made his first appearance Becker County District Court on three felony counts of domestic assault, including one count of domestic assault by strangulation.

Anthony Allen Warren, 43, of 248 Shorewood Drive, Detroit Lakes, is accused of assaulting a woman at the Detroit Lakes residence they shared on Jan. 17.

According to the criminal complaint, Warren allegedly threw the woman down on the bed and applied pressure to her throat, making it difficult for her to breathe, and also punched and kicked her.

He is currently in custody at the Becker County Jail pending his next court appearance, at a Feb. 4 Rule 8 hearing. His bail was set at $75,000 with conditions, or $150,000 without conditions.
