Man fined for fleeing officer
Jade E. Nitek, 27, of 28822 260th Ave., Holmcombe, Wis., has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for fleeing a peace officer on foot and fourth-degree DWI, both misdemeanors.
He was originally charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, but that charge was reduced in a plea agreement Nov. 12.
On June 11, a Becker County deputy clocked him driving 89 mph in a 55 mph zone on Highway 87.
According to court records, he refused to stop for the deputy and drove south on 380th Avenue to a residence, where he tried to flee on foot. He was caught a short distance away.
His blood alcohol level tested at .10 percent.
District Judge Peter Irvine sentenced him to 90 days on each of the two misdemeanor counts, stayed one year and two years, respectively. He was fined $500 on each count, plus court fees.
A chemical use assessment has already been done. He was ordered to abstain from alcohol and have no further driver's license offenses.
