Bradley Harold Littlefield, 59, pleaded guilty Thursday in Clay County District Court to one count of negligently setting a fire resulting in bodily harm, a gross misdemeanor.

Littlefield was sentenced to 45 days in jail, to be served through electronic home monitoring, plus two years of unsupervised probation. He is also required to take an online hazardous materials course.

Prosecutors had accused Littlefield of working in a Dilworth paint shop last November with no sprinkler system, welding in an area used for paint spraying. Those were among the action that authorities said were code violations that led to the fire.

The smoke from the fire was so heavy authorities shut down U.S. Highway 10, and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with what was later determined to be a heart attack.
