Man gets jail for assault
A Detroit Lakes man was sentenced Tuesday in Becker County District Court on a felony domestic assault charge.
Earl McCanery III, 31, of 523 E. Union St., Detroit Lakes, was sentenced to 18 months in prison, stayed on conditions including completion of 90 days in jail, up to five years of supervised probation and payment of $1,160 in court fines and fees.
McCanery was accused of assaulting a woman at the Audubon Trailer Court in Audubon on Tuesday, June 12.
According to the criminal complaint, McCanery allegedly caused injuries to the woman's face, neck and arms.
He has prior convictions on his record including felony domestic assault (2009), gross misdemeanor assault (2009) and multiple misdemeanor assault convictions from 2005, 2006 and 2007.
