Man gets jail for assault
A Frazee man was sentenced recently in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of fourth degree assault of a corrections officer.
Justin Marshall Critt, 35, of 29395 130th Ave., Frazee, was given a 17-month prison sentence, stayed on conditions including completion of 136 days in jail and up to four years of supervised probation. He must also complete an anger management program and diagnostic assessment, as well as complete an undetermined number of community service hours in lieu of a $1,000 fine, plus pay $85 in court fees. Critt was originally accused of punching a corrections officer in the face and mouth during an altercation at the Becker County Jail on Sept. 22.
According to the complaint, a corrections officer was assisting him with an exchange of clothing when he became upset with the officer and started cursing at him. When the officer told him to go inside his cell, he refused, and the officer ended up pushing him inside, at which point Critt allegedly turned around and punched him, causing the officer's nose to bleed.
