Man gets prison for order violation
A Minnesota man was sentenced and convicted last week in Becker County District court on a felony charge of violating a domestic abuse protection order.
Brian Lee Martin, 32, no known address, was ordered to serve 27 months (2¼ years) in prison, with credit for 212 days already served, and fined $210, to be paid for from his prison earnings.
Martin was accused of going on Aug. 20 of last year to the Becker County home of a woman with whom he was forbidden to have any contact, as the result of a protection order issued in St. Louis County on May 10, 2013.
According to the complaint, Martin was “intoxicated and combative” when officers were attempting to apprehend him. He also has four prior assault or domestic assault-related convictions on his record from between 2006-11, and was on probation at the time of his arrest for 2012 convictions on charges of felony domestic assault and third degree assault.
