Man gets two years for violating sex offender registration law
A man was sentenced in Becker County District Court Wednesday to two years in prison for violating the predatory offender registration law.
Brian Keith James, 41, is currently in jail in Fargo for alcohol-related offenses.
According to court records:
On May 28, 2008, Detroit Lakes police were contacted by Fargo police about James because his last known address was in Detroit Lakes. He had been evicted from a residence there and later spent time in the Clay County Jail.
He has one prior conviction for failing to register as a sex offender.
He appeared Wednesday before District Judge Peter Irvine, who sentenced him to 24 months in prison, with credit for time served, and ordered him to pay a $50 fine plus court fees from his prison earnings.
