Man sentenced for escape
PONSFORD - Clarence Elmer, 30, of 29486 County Road 129, Ponsford was sentenced in Becker County District Court Friday on a felony escape charge.
On Oct. 2 he appeared in court for approbation violation hearing, at which time he demanded execution of his sentence for felony theft of property.
As a short-term offender he was ordered to serve his time in jail, not prison. On Oct. 16 he fled the minimum security jail in Detroit Lakes prior to completion of his sentence, according to court records.
District Judge Peter Irvine on Friday sentenced him to 17 months in prison, concurrent with another file, and granted credit for time served since Oct. 22. He was ordered to pay a $50 fine plus court fees, to be taken from his prison earnings.
