Man sentenced to jail for fleeing officers
A White Earth man was convicted and sentenced last week in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of fleeing peace officers in a motor vehicle.
Raymond Charles Dakota, 27, of 25502 Black Duck Trail, White Earth, was ordered to serve a year in prison, stayed on conditions including up to five years of supervised probation, 62 days in jail (with credit for 62 days served since his arrest), and pay $210 in court fines and fees.
Dakota was involved in a high-speed chase with White Earth Police Department officers that occurred on Aug. 1.
According to court records, the pursuit began when Dakota refused to pull over the pickup he was driving after an officer tried to stop him for running a stop sign. The chase ended outside the Regional Treatment Center building, where Dakota said he had brought the vehicle in order to return it to his father.
