Man sentenced for selling cocaine at 10,000 Lakes Fest
Vaushawn Andre Johnson, 27, of 5211 Bass Lake Road, Apt. 1, Crystal, Minn., has been sentenced for selling drugs at 10,000 Lakes Fest.
He was charged in Becker County District Court with felony second-degree controlled substance crime - sale.
According to court records:
On July 26, a deputy was dispatched to the Lake Sallie Campground during the 10,000 Lakes Festival after festival security workers caught a man selling cocaine.
The security workers had observed Johnson selling baggies of white powdery substance hand-to-hand. When confronted, he dropped several of the baggies, which later tested positive for cocaine. When taken to jail, he was found to have 13.7 grams of cocaine and $1,002 in cash on his person.
He pleaded guilty Nov. 12 and was sentenced Monday by District Judge Peter Irvine to 68 months in prison, execution of sentence stayed 25 years.
He was placed on supervised probation for 25 years and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus court fees. He can do community service work in lieu of the fine. He must get a chemical dependency evaluation and follow the recommendations.
He must also successfully complete the Minnesota Teen Challenge residential drug and alcohol treatment program and all aftercare programs.
