Man sentenced for test refusal
Dale Timothy Villebrun, 37, of 2250 210th St., Mahnomen was sentenced in Becker County District Court for first-degree felony DWI, test refusal.
Two other DWI-related charged were dismissed in a plea agreement when he pleaded guilty Jan. 8.
On June 14, a deputy found him behind the wheel of a car in the ditch on Highway 59. The car was running and the deputy had difficulty waking him, according to court records. He refused to submit to alcohol testing. He has eight prior DWIs dating back to 1991, and his license has been canceled as inimical to public safety.
On Thursday, he was sentenced to four years in prison by District Judge Mark Hansen, execution of sentence stayed seven years. He was placed on supervised probation and ordered to serve 180 days in jail, with work release privileges granted.
He was fined $4,500, with $3,000 of that stayed, and ordered to submit to random alcohol and drug testing.
