A man was stabbed about 3 p.m. Sunday in a south Grand Forks apartment, police said.

According to a news release from the police department, a call came in at 3:14 p.m. of a stabbing in an apartment building on the 1100 block of 18th Avenue South. When police arrived, the victim was gone but later was found at Altru Hospital, where he is being treated for a stab wound to the abdomen.

Police said they know everyone who was involved in the incident.

"All parties involved are known to each other," the police report says. "There is no threat to the public."

The investigation isn't finished, and it's not known yet whether anyone will face charges or what is the condition, age or identity of the victim.

It was the second stabbing in Grand Forks in three days.

Johnny Lazar, 39, was stabbed in the abdomen about 9 a.m. Friday by an unidentified assailant wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt, a ski mask and black boots, police said.

"The guy made some comment about revenge and took off," Sgt. Kevin Kallinen said. "He doesn't know who it was."

Lazar was treated and released from Altru Hospital after the incident.

Kallinen said Lazar's stabbing may have been retribution for a September 2008 incident in which Lazar injured another man with a knife

Police ask that anyone with information on Friday's stabbing call (701) 787-8000.
