Dec. 4, 1930-Aug. 1, 2010
Marjorie Louise Sorensen, 79, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday August 1, 2010, in the loving care of the Thomas House of Perham.
Margie was born on Dec 4, 1930 to Fred and Louise (Wothe) Cooper. She grew up in Frazee, amid numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and graduated from Frazee High School. She then worked part time as a waitress at Ralph's Ice Cream Parlor. She had a beautiful voice, and enjoyed singing her whole life, starting with Triple Trio in Frazee.
Margie married Norman Sorensen on Feb. 16, 1952 and moved to Fargo, where she raised four children and worked various jobs such as proofreader at the Fargo Forum, church secretary and medical receptionist. She greatly enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin on Lake Six near Frazee from 1960-93, and several vacation trips to Hawaii. She took long walks outdoors, enjoying God's creation, and was the catalyst for keeping in touch with all the relatives.
In her retirement, she and Norm moved to Florence, Ore., and resided there for 10 years. In Florence, Margie and Norm enjoyed walks on the ocean beach and doing volunteer work. In 2003, Margie moved back to Perham.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband Norm (Aug. 22, 2000).
She is survived by her sister, Marion Eidenschink of Moorhead; daughters Delores Sorensen of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Deborah Sorensen-Ell of Fargo; sons, Dean (Sue) Sorensen of Tualatin, Ore., and David (Mary) Sorensen of Menahga; one granddaughter, Erin Thompson of Menahga; four grandsons, Joshua (Elena) Ell of Kent, Wash., Jacob Ell of Duluth, Minn., John Ell of Fargo and Alex Sorensen of Tualatin, Ore.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Calvary Lutheran Church, Perham.
