Former Detroit Lakes resident Marion E. Larson, 87, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls.
Marion Eleanor Haglund, daughter of Charles Haglund Sr. and Mabel (Oslund) Haglund, was born Sept. 7, 1921 in St. Paul, where she grew up. Marion married Gordon C. Larson on Feb. 9, 1946 in St. Paul. They lived in Torrington and Buffalo, Wyo., Jamestown and Fargo, N.D., and Detroit Lakes before moving to Sioux Falls.
Marion was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Deborah Helmke of Hurley, S.D., and Beth (Glen) Uken of Brandon, S.D.; two grandsons; one great granddaughter; a brother, Charles Jr. (Shirley) Haglund of St. Paul; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding Marion in death were her husband, Gordon (Nov. 26, 1994); a son, Bruce Larson; two great grandsons, Anthony Uken and James Uken; her parents; and two sisters, Joyce Olson and Ruth Brodt.
Marion's family requests that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, South Dakota Office, 1000 N. West Avenue, #250, Sioux Falls, SD 57104.
