Marjorie Johnson

June 6, 1917-Nov. 4, 2011

Marjorie Lois (Kohler) Johnson, 94, passed away November 4, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center in Casper, Wyo.

Per her wishes graveside services will be held at a later date. Her cremains will be buried next to her husband at Highland Cemetery in Casper.

Marjorie was born to William J. Kohler and Ella (Disse) Kohler of Audubon on June 6, 1917. She was the second child in a family of 10. Farm chores, rural schooling and helping to care for her siblings kept her busy.

Marjorie married Elmer W. Johnson December 14, 1934, and again, she was helping with farm work and raising their family of three, near Ogema.

Selling their farm in 1948, they moved to Detroit Lakes, then on to Fremont, Neb., and finally settling in Casper, Wyo., in 1950. Over the years Marjorie was employed at the Casper Country Club, F.W. Woolworth's, Holiday Inn and the Court House. Retiring in her late 70s, she kept busy sewing, quilting, baking, and always a beautiful flower garden.

After living thru the era of "make do with what you have," she could undo, redo or rebuild whatever needed fixed. At the age of 92, dementia slowed her mind down. She was a very thoughtful and caring person who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her son, Jesse J. Johnson of Evansville, Wyo.; daughters, Nona A. Santistevan of Casper and Deanne M. (Roy) Johnson of Mills, Wyo.; sisters, Marlene Dahlberg of Audubon and Audrey Ronning of Detroit Lakes; brothers, Earl (Judy) Kohler of Concord, Calif., Dennis (Dory) Kohler of Detroit Lakes and Leon (Donna) Kohler of Audubon; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Elmer (1973); sister Bethy Ronning; brothers Billy, Arnold and Alvin Kohler; and her companion of 20 years, Nute Cowger.
