Former East Grand Forks, Minn., resident Mark V.Perkins, 31, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Fairview Hospital University Campus in Minneapolis, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mark Victor Perkins was born the son of Jim and Jane (Parker) Perkins on Jan. 14, 1978 in Grand Forks, N.D. Mark grew up and attended school in East Grand Forks, where he graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School with the Class of 1996. He earned a teaching degree in special education in 2000, and then received his master's degree in special education in 2001 from the University of North Dakota.
Mark taught in Minneapolis from 2001 to 2002, and then in Wadena from 2002 to 2003. In 2003 he moved to Browerville, Minn., where he taught special education and was an assistant football coach and head girls' basketball Coach for the school.
Loving family members Mark leaves behind include his father, Jim Perkins of East Grand Forks; two brothers, Jeff (Jill) Perkins of Detroit Lakes and Bryan (Erica) Perkins of East Grand Forks; three nieces and one nephew.
Preceding Mark in death were his mother Jane (Jan. 29, 2009) and his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, followed by an 8 p.m. prayer service, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 3rd Ave. NW, East Grand Forks.
A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in East Grand Forks, with inurnment following at Resurrection Cemetery, East Grand Forks.
