Marlyn Orlen Heimark, 73, rural Pelican Rapids, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and the nursing staff at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park.
Marlyn was born on May 25, 1935, to Willie and Viola (Williams) Heimark in Norwegian Grove Township, rural Pelican Rapids. He was confirmed on July 2, 1950, at Cormorant Lutheran Church by Rev. O.J. Landsverk. Marlyn attended the Cormorant School District No. 14 through the 8th grade. After his school years, he spent his time working for several farmers in the area, until he took over the family farm with his brothers. Marlyn farmed until his unfortunate loss of his eyesight in 1983, at which time he retired. He continued to live on the family farm until 2002, when he moved to his living quarters, next to Les and Donna Heimark, north of Cormorant Village. Marlyn lived there until April 22, 2009, and has re-sided at Sunnyside Care Center since, due to his medical condition.
Marlyn is survived by three brothers, Vernon (Jill) Heimark, Litchfield, Minn., Vincent (Marilyn) Heimark, Brooklyn Park, Minn., Leslie (Donna) Heimark, Cormorant, and eight nieces and nephews.
Marlyn was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lorris, Wayne and Fredolph Heimark, and one sister-in-law, Arlene (Doll) Heimark.
A memorial service is Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 3 p.m. in the Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park.
Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.
