Marsha F. Louks, 63, Detroit Lakes, died at her home July 9, 2009, under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by her family.
Marsha Faye Louks was born April 15, 1946, in Macintosh, Minn., to Ernest and Ingaborg (Austad) Sammons. She grew up on the prairies of Montana and North Dakota. Later in her childhood, she moved with her family to Detroit Lakes and attended school there. In 1964, she married Alfred Olds in Detroit Lakes and resided in the Detroit Lakes area. Marsha was united in marriage with Daniel Louks in Rapid City, S.D., in 1982. They resided in Detroit Lakes. Marsha worked many jobs in and around Detroit Lakes, including at Emmanuel Nursing Home, the Clark Gas Station, numerous waitress jobs, at Pella Windows, as a service rep for Wrangler Jeans and several other rep jobs.
Marsha was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. She was mother and a good friend to many and will be sorrowfully missed by all. Marsha loved to flower garden and vegetable garden. She also enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, canning, cooking, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She is a beloved wife and mother.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Daniel Louks, Detroit Lakes; three sons, Jeff Olds, Detroit Lakes, Wade (Wendy) Olds, Detroit Lakes, Scott (Heather) Olds, Detroit Lakes; a daughter, Sharon (Mike) Collett, Moorhead; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; a sister, Sharon, and brother, Ricky.
The funeral service is Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. in Grace Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Eric Lemonholm officiating.
Visitation is Thursday, July 16, from 6-8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30, in the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
