Mary B. Grandy, 88, of Detroit Lakes, a former resident of St. Thomas, N.D., passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home in Detroit Lakes.
Mary B. Daniels was born the daughter of the late Louis and Suzanne (Korb) Daniels on May 12, 1922 in Midland Township, Pembina County, N.D. She attended rural school near St. Thomas, and graduated from high school in St. Paul, Minn.
Mary was united in marriage to William Grandy on October 24, 1947 in Crookston. The couple lived and farmed near St. Thomas until his death on Feb. 6, 1991. Mary continued to live in St. Thomas and spend winters in Arizona until June of 2006, when she moved to Detroit Lakes.
Mary was a member of the St. Thomas United Methodist Church and WMF, the St. Thomas American Legion Auxiliary and was very active in the Republican Women of District 10 and 11.
Surviving Mary are her children, William (Diane) Grandy Jr. of St. Thomas and Elizabeth (William) Landrigan of San Clemente, Calif.; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, husband, five brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Tollefson Funeral Home in Grafton, N.D. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the St. Thomas United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the St. Thomas City Cemetery.
