Mary E. Williams, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at her residence.
Mary Elizabeth Williams was born to Stephen and Elizabeth (Adams) Helenske on October 18, 1924 in New Rockford, N.D. She grew up and attended country school in that area. She then moved to St. Cloud, Minn., where she lived with her sister and attended high school.
Following her graduation from high school she returned to North Dakota, and taught country school near Fessenden. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Williams and they made their home in Fargo for many years.
Following retirement they moved to Star Lake near Dent. They later moved to Perham. Mary has been a resident of Detroit Lakes for the past year.
Mary enjoyed time spent with her family. She also enjoyed fishing on Star Lake. She was a great mother and homemaker. She was a kind spirit with a great sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving Mary are two daughters, Pamela (Bruce) Lindblad of Detroit Lakes and Linda Mudge of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren, Stephanie LeFebvre of Fort Wayne, Jennifer Gaspersich of Blaine, Minn., Brian Lindblad of Audubon, Jenny Beck of Detroit Lakes, Launa Bergren, of Lake Park and Damon Allmaras of Pennsylvania; and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding Mary in death were her husband, Robert (2007); two sons, Larry Allmaras and James Allmaras; son-in-law, Stephen Mudge; six sisters; two brothers; and her parents.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5 at the West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with visitation for one hour prior to services.
