MaryLou Nistler, 78, of Fargo, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at her home on Lake Eunice, near Detroit Lakes.
MaryLou Kreitinger was born to Lillian (Cross) and Anton Kreitinger on Jan. 4, 1931 in Golva, N.D., as the fourth of five children. She graduated from Golva High School in 1948, and from Dickinson State University with an Elementary Associate Degree in 1950.
MaryLou then taught 6th grade in Wibaux, Mont. In 1951, she taught first and second grade in Golva. In 1952, she became an accountant at Schulz Chevrolet in Beach, N.D. MaryLou married Steve Nistler on Aug. 3, 1955 in Golva. They moved to Fargo in 1957, when Steve began working for Northwest Airlines.
While in Fargo, MaryLou was a substitute teacher at Holy Spirit School and worked for Jan Realty, selling real estate. In July 1975 she began working for Northwestern Bell telephone, and retired from there in May 1991. She was a lifetime member of Holy Spirit Church, was involved in the Ladies Circle and was a 4-H leader.
MaryLou loved talking on the phone, spending time at the lake and being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Everyone knew they were welcome to visit and eat at the Nistlers.
Surviving MaryLou are her eight children, Peggy (Steve) Lorz of Fargo, Mary (Louis) Romero of Las Vegas, Nev., Tony Nistler of Lake Park, Katie (Jim) Traynor of Fargo, Peter Nistler of Fargo, Paul (Bert) Nistler of Fargo, Theresa Nistler of Fargo and Amy (Doug) Scott of Oak Park, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; and one brother, Jack (Stan) Kreitinger of Three Forks, Mont.
Preceding MaryLou in death were her parents; her husband, Steve; one sister and two brothers.
There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fargo, with burial in Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
Memorials are preferred sent to the Fargo Catholic School Network.
