Maurice J. Eder, 85, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, with Monsignor Timothy McGee, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Breckenridge.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, with a Catholic Order of Foresters Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil at 7 p.m., in David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, continuing for one hour prior to mass Tuesday at the church.
Maurice Joseph Eder was born to Joseph and Mary (Portner) Eder on July 4, 1928 in Breckenridge. He was united in marriage to Catherine Schmidt, June 20, 1951. They made their home in Breckenridge, Doran, Hoffman and Detroit Lakes, where Maurice worked as a manager for numerous lumber companies. Catherine died in 2010.
Maurice loved music, dancing, bowling, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his children, Thomas (Julie) Eder of Fargo, Judith (Kevin) Maynard of Detroit Lakes, Kevin Eder of Detroit Lakes, Mary Beth (Mike) Nelson of Wahpeton, N.D., Annette (Max) Blacknik of Grand Forks, N.D., Karen Harjes of Oak Park Heights, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and a brother, Linus Eder of Williston, N.D.
In addition to his wife, Catherine, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Roder.
