McLaughlin concert in Fergus Falls
Acoustic guitarist and composer Billy McLaughlin will perform at a special event this Thursday, Oct. 8 at A Center for the Arts in Fergus Falls.
Diagnosed with the neuromuscular disorder known as focal dystonia in 2001, McLaughlin refused to give up his music. Instead, he began teaching himself to play again, left-handed.
His struggles with the disease, and subsequent comeback, are detailed in the documentary "Changing Keys," which will be shown prior to McLaughlin's concert at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The film will be followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. (for advance ticket holders only), where you can have your choice of four downtown restaurants: Bello Cucino, Café 116, The Spot and The Viking.
Then, at 7:30 p.m., McLaughlin himself will take the stage for a concert with local string musicians.
Tickets are available for the film and concert separately, both of them together, or with dinner included, by calling 218-736-5453. More information is also available online at www.fergusarts.org.
