Meet the 'Merry Wives'
Though the curtain officially rose on Friday, there are still plenty of chances to catch a performance of this year's Shakespeare in the Park production, "The Merry Wives of Windsor," at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell.
Performances are set for 2 p.m. today (Sunday) as well as 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 1-3. Each show will begin with the presentation of a vignette from "A Midsummer Night's Dream," followed by the full-length production approximately 20 minutes later.
Though one of Shakespeare's lesser-known comedies, "The Merry Wives" is a light-hearted romp sure to delight audiences of all ages. Directed by Nikki Caulfield and presented by the Historic Holmes Theatre, the production will include a 21-member cast ranging in ages from 12 to 71. (Look for a feature on the production's opening weekend in Wednesday's Detroit Lakes Tribune).
All performances are free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so be sure to bring along lawn chairs or blankets for your comfort. For more information, call 218-844-SHOW (7469) or visit www.dlccc.org.
