Former Osage resident Melinda Rose Longfors, 34, of Maple Grove, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in Maple Grove.
Melinda, the daughter of Melvin and Linda (Wendt) Longfors, was born on December 1, 1979 in Detroit Lakes. She attended school in Frazee, graduating from Frazee High School in 1998.
Melinda then went on to Augsburg College in Minneapolis and received a Bachelor's Degree of Accounting in 2002. Shortly after her graduation she started her employment with W.D. Forbes in Minneapolis, where she was an office manager until the time of death.
Melinda enjoyed reading, movies, scrapbooking and traveling. She treasured time spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Melinda enjoyed shopping for them and spending quality time with them. She truly loved her nieces and nephews.
Surviving Melinda are her parents, Melvin and Linda Longfors of Osage; siblings, Nicholas Longfors of Fargo, Mark (Trisha) Longfors of Frazee and Lisabeth (Philip) Mutchler of West Fargo; her nieces and nephews, Zachary, Nathan, Ava, Alison, Sophie and Christopher Longfors, Brayden and Caylee Mutchler; maternal grandmother, Rose Wendt of Detroit Lakes; paternal grandmother, Marie Longfors of Moorhead; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Melinda in death were her maternal grandfather, Reuben Wendt; and paternal grandparents, Richard and Irene Longfors.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church - Height of Land, rural Detroit Lakes, with Pastor Scott Muehlberg officiating.
Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
