Metal Sales announces scholarship
Another VanMaasdam takes the cake. Or the $5,000 scholarship from Metal Sales Manufacturing anyway.
For the second year, Metal Sales' parent company, Interlock, has given out three $5,000 scholarships to children of employees. Last year, Angie VanMaasdam received a scholarship. This year, her younger sister, Malisa, was awarded the same honor.
"Without a doubt, this applicant, if I may, the top point earner, is who I'm here for," Jeff Mackin said. Mackin is the chair of the board of directors, and presented the scholarship to Angie last year as well.
Malisa is top of her class at Frazee-Vergas High School. She has been heavily involved in art all her life. Mackin said at age 15, some of Malisa's artwork hung in the nation's capital for a year.
Malisa plans to attend Bemidji State University this fall for art education and sociology.
"Quite a catch for them (BSU)," Mackin said.
