MFG teams make noise in the 'Rumble in the Jungle'

The Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics Teams traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D., March 6 to compete in the rescheduled Rumble in the Stormy Jungle meet.

MFG had Level 4 through Level 9 gymnasts competing.

The Flyers had all around champions in levels four through seven and nine.

Anna Donner scored a 37.00 to win the Level 4 all around championship. Also in the Level 4 competition, Alexis Yliniemi scored a 9.3 to win the Floor Exercise event.

In the Level 5 competition, Cora Okeson won the all around with a 35.55 score.

Katie Overland scored a 35.70 to win the Level 6 all around.

In the Level 7 competition, the top four spots all went to MFG gymnasts.

Leading the way was Justine Lawrence with an all around score of 36.275.

There were great individual improvements in the Level 8 competition.

Jessica Stelter won the vault with a 9.175 in her first ever USAG competition as a Level 8.

Stelter also qualified for the MN Optional State Championships which will be held in Champlin, March 20-21.

The Level 8 team took 2nd place.

Other members of the Level 8 team are Ilse Rue and Mathia Olds.

Amy Crawford won the all around with a score of 35.20 in her first USAG Level 9 competition.

This also qualifies her for the MN State Championships.
