FARGO - The Army Corps of Engineers in St. Paul has awarded the cleanup contract for Cass County to the same company removing sandbags in Fargo.

The corps has been tasked by FEMA with the removal of temporary flood protection used in the Red River of the North river basin during the spring flood fight.

The Corps awarded Spruce Valley Corporation of Middle River, Minn., a $1.2 million contract to remove sandbag levees located along the boundaries of Cass County, excluding the city of Fargo, according to a news release issued by the corps.

Work is expected to be completed in 45 days.

Last month, Spruce Valley was awarded the contract for sandbag removal in Fargo.
