Middle school bands to perform Monday
The Detroit Lakes Middle School bands will present their second concert of the school years in their Winter Band Concert on Monday, Jan. 28.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be presented in the Detroit Lakes George Simson Middle School Auditorium.
The bands will again be performing an eclectic variety of music. Included will be numerous categories of band literature. Samples include traditional and contemporary marches, original programmatic pieces, overtures, slow tunes and popular and rock selections.
Some of the works the audience is sure to recognize, while others will be brand new from the pen of the composers.
The sixth grade band will perform "For the Glory of the Flag," "Renegade Dances," "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and "Prelude to a Festival."
Next to perform is the seventh grade band with "Hail America!," "Triumphant Overture," "New Horizons," "Sweet Caroline" and "Torrents of Fire."
Closing the program will be the eighth grade band with "Imperial March," "For the Fallen," "Through a Child's Eyes," "Separate Ways (World's Apart)" and "River Trail Expedition."
With a vast variety of music presented, the middle school bands hope to satisfy any and all tastes in music. The public is invited to attend and there is no admission charge.
