Milton H. Karppinen, 71, of Frazee, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 in Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church, Wolf Lake, with Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. Interment will be in the Wolf Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Milton H. Karppinen was born to Henry and Mary (Aho) Karppinen on April 30, 1942 in Detroit Lakes. He was raised in the Toad Lakes area of rural Frazee and was a 1961 graduate of Frazee High School. Following graduation, he farmed the family farm near Toad Lake.

Milton enjoyed duck and deer hunting, and fishing.

Survivors include a sister, Elaine (Bruce) Wothe of Atwater; a brother, Mahlon (Cathie) Karppinen of Glyndon; nieces and nephews, Lissa (Mark) Borchert of Atwater, Steve (Robin) Wothe of Atwater, Susan (Dominic) Popowski of Louisville, Ky., Bob (Meredith) Karppinen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Chris (Jennifer) Karppinen of West Fargo; grandnieces and grandnephews, Miranda, Erica and Carson Borchert, Hunter and Brooke Gronli, Dominique and Ladislia Popowski, Emma, Jaxon Karppinen, Eleanore Karppinen.

His parents preceded him in death.
