Minnesota Beef Council seeks candidates for five board of directors positions
Minnesota's Beef Promotion and Research Council is seeking candidates for its Board of Directors.
Five positions will be filled by mail ballots to be sent out by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture in March. Elections to be held in March will select the representatives from Districts 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8.
The Beef Council's funding comes from the Beef Check-off program in which $1 is collected each time a beef or dairy animal is sold. Council activities focus on promotion, research and educational programs to increase the demand for beef. Board members approve and direct the business activities of the Council.
The Minnesota Beef Council is an elected board of 16 beef producers plus one ex-officio member from various parts of the state. Members serve a three-year term and attend four meetings per year. Individuals who would like to be placed on the ballot must own beef or dairy cattle and live in the district they wish to represent.
Contact John Moon at 320-269-5957 or the Minnesota Beef Council at 952-854-6980 for a nomination form or additional information. Requests for nomination forms may also be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations will be closed Feb. 1.
Mail ballots will automatically be sent to all beef and dairy producers who returned a ballot request card. Producers who did not return the ballot request card must contact the Minnesota Beef Council no later than Feb. 1. Producers may phone the Minnesota Beef Council at 952-854-6980 or request a ballot by writing to the Minnesota Beef Council, 2950 Metro Drive No. 102, Bloomington, MN 55425.
