Missoula Children's Theatre in DL this week
Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) is once again visiting the Historic Holmes Theatre in Detroit Lakes through this Friday, June 25.
Students in grades 1-12 are taking part in a week of theater workshops, culminating in two performances of the play "Robinson Crusoe" this weekend on the Holmes Theatre stage.
This week's workshops take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, with the debut performance of "Robinson Crusoe" to take place Friday, June 25 at 7 p.m. A second performance will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26.
Purposely varying from the plot of Daniel Defoe's novel, MCT's "Robinson Crusoe" teaches the lesson that reading invites more than observation.
The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation's largest touring children's theater group, has been touring extensively for 37 years now, in locations from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,300 communities this year with up to 45 teams of tour actor/directors.
A tour team arrives in a given town with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play... except the cast.
Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project. MCT's mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts. For more information regarding MCT, please contact email@example.com or visit their website at www.mctinc.org.
The Missoula Children's Theatre residency in Detroit Lakes is brought to you by the Historic Holmes Theatre and is sponsored by Arvig Communication Systems (ACS).
