MN companies invited to explore new export opportunities
Minnesota food and agriculture companies are invited to discover new export opportunities in Mexican and Caribbean food markets at a seminar sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Food Export-Midwest.
The seminar will provide an overview of the economies, geography and demographics of these markets, and attendees will learn about how federal assistance programs can help increase their export sales.
In 2006, U.S. agricultural exports to these two regions reached a record high of $13.2 billion. MDA International Trade Representative Shannen Bornsen says many Minnesota companies want to get in on the action, but entering the export business can sometimes be an overwhelming process. Bornsen says this seminar will help companies take the first steps.
The seminar will be held Tuesday, June 17, at the Sheraton Hotel, Bloomington, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $30 per person. To register, visit www.foodexport.org or call Shannen Bornsen at 651-201-6658.
