Montgomery Gentry to play -- Country duo at Shooting Star June 12
Known around the globe for their live performances and hits like Back When I Knew It All, Lucky Man and If You Ever Stop Loving Me, hard-rocking country duo Montgomery Gentry is treating fans in the region to a concert at Shooting Star Casino on Thursday, June 12 at 8 pm.
Since their critically acclaimed debut in 1999, Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry have been the pioneers of one of the most important transformations in country music since Outlaw Country first returned the genre to its roots.
In the same way that legends like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings reminded people what country was all about, Montgomery Gentry has been offering a non-stop, around-the-world refresher course for the 21st century.
Mixing down-and-dirty honest lyrics and a gritty rock edge, their music has inspired millions from fairgrounds in the American South to military bases overseas.
"People recognize the realism in our music," says Gentry. "We're not trying to candy coat anything. Who we are is who we are. It's all about being real, being yourself, and playing real music to the people."
Getting their start in northern Kentucky, the duo has never traveled far from the spirit of the music they grew up playing.
To this day, their music is filled with blue-collar anthems, tales of life, work, love, loss, patriotism and good times with friends. As Montgomery likes to put it, "the good, the bad, the ugly, and the party on the weekends."
