Moorhead dad revives son who accidentally hung self

A 10-year-old Moorhead boy who accidentally hung himself in a rope swing was seriously injured and in a Fargo hospital Friday after his father revived him with CPR, Moorhead police said.

First responders were called at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday to 3372 39th St. S. for a report of a 10-year-old boy who had been hanging by a rope in the garage and wasn't breathing.

Karson Jacobson had been playing on the rope swing, which hangs from a rafter in the garage and has a loop in the end, when he got hung up on the swing.

The boy's father, Jeffrey Jacobson, performed CPR and got a pulse, and the boy was taken to Innovis Health in Fargo, according to Moorhead police.

Innovis spokeswoman Kris Olson confirmed the boy is a patient there, but said the hospital is respecting the family's wishes not to release any other information at this time.

Foul play is not suspected, police said.
