When they took a closer look, they saw the corner of the house was also smoldering.

Mithun and Nord knocked on the door, waking up homeowner Kathy Steinkuehler from her nap.

Steinkuehler said she is grateful for the boys and their prompt response. She said she would not otherwise have been aware of the fire.

Firefighters examined the yard and home, but the cause of the fire is still unknown.

The damage was contained to the corner of the house.
