MOORHEAD – A Moorhead man accused of causing a shop fire by not following fire code regulations – a fire that sent a volunteer firefighter to the hospital with a heart attack – has agreed to plead guilty to criminal charges linked to the fire.

Bradley Harold Littlefield, 59, is set for a plea hearing next week in Clay County District Court, the county prosecutor’s office confirmed. Littlefield was charged April 24 with two counts of causing fires causing bodily harm. One count is a felony, the other a gross misdemeanor.

The criminal complaint alleges a state fire marshal determined Littlefield had been working in a Dilworth paint shop Nov. 28 with no sprinkler system, welding in an area used for paint spraying. The charges allege those and other code violations led to the fire.

The smoke from the fire was so heavy authorities shut down U.S. Highway 10, and a firefighter was taken to the hospital with what was later determined to have been a heart attack.

Littlefield’s plea hearing is set for Oct. 11.
