Moorhead police find two men walking in Red River

MOORHEAD - Moorhead Police Lt. Tory Jacobson says two men used "poor judgment" when they went walking in the flooding Red River with chest waders on Tuesday.

A woman reported seeing the men in the river at 7:28 p.m. at 40th Avenue South and River Oak Circle.

"It appears that this was just a situation where they had some waders and the water was there, and just trying to experience that, and it was just poor judgment," Jacobson said. "We're glad the officers were able to locate them and make sure that they stopped."

The men, ages 18 and 19, were not cited. Jacobson said that with the river current so strong, the outcome could have been much worse if they'd taken a wrong step and their waders had filled up.
