FARGO - A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the Red River Valley, with freezing drizzle and snow expected to grip the region.

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks forecast warned that freezing drizzle and patchy fog is possible today throughout eastern North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.

The Fargo-Moorhead area likely will see more snow - with up to 3 inches possible tonight and another 2 inches Friday. Detroit Lakes could see an inch or two of snow.

"The Friday morning commute will be snow covered and slick for the area," the weather service said in its weather outlook.

"Snow will continue and persist through the weekend into Monday, with additional accumulations likely."

Moderate temperatures are expected, with highs in the 20s through Saturday, when the region could see more snow.

However, the region will see an arctic front "ushering in much colder air" by Monday, with some blowing snow expected, the weather service said.

The weather service's extended forecast shows high temperatures will fall after Saturday, with snow possible Sunday and Monday.
