More snow on the way Thursday
More snow is expected Thursday in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, the National Weather Service says.
A winter weather advisory is in effect from midnight tonight until 6 p.m. Thursday.
The heaviest snow amounts are expected from Langdon east to Baudette, Minn., near the international border, where 3 to 5 inches are anticipated, the weather service said.
Lighter snow amounts from 1 to 2 inches are expected along and south of U.S. Highway 2 near Devils Lake and Grand Forks.
Strong northwest winds will increase late tonight and Thursday, gusting up to 40 mph at times in the Red River Valley. The wind will produce considerable blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibilities to less than one-half mile at times in open country.
Cass and Clay counties aren't included in the winter weather advisory.
The forecast for the Fargo-Moorhead area calls for a chance of flurries with less than an inch of snow tonight and Thursday, with wind gusts up to 38 mph Thursday.
