Murder suspect arrested
FARGO - Bismarck murder suspect Sheldon Lee McHugh was arrested Monday night just after 7 by Fargo police in the area of the Main Avenue bridge between Fargo and Moorhead.
Fargo officers were dispatched to the area to help Moorhead and Bismarck police who were pursing McHugh, 19, after he ran from a Moorhead residence on foot.
McHugh reached the bridge, where he attempted to take a vehicle from a motorist, according to a news release from Fargo Sgt. Jeff Skuza. The motorist resisted, and McHugh ran and scaled a fence at Mid-America Steel in Fargo. He was apprehended on the far side of the fence.
McHugh - who was arrested on a Burleigh County warrant for probation revocation, attempted robbery of a motor vehicle and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana - is a suspect in the murder of Alden Fasthorse, 30, of Cannon Ball, N.D., according to Bismarck police.
Fasthorse was found dead Thursday at the Ramkota Inn in Bismarck after he failed to meet an acquaintance for a ride. He reportedly was stabbed, although Bismarck police wouldn't say how many times, what kind of weapon was used or whether a weapon was recovered at the scene.
Bismarck Police Chief Keith Witt said last week that McHugh's name came up during the investigation.
