PRINCETON, Minn. - The pilot who died in a Monday crash near the Princeton airport owned a floor-sanding business and was leaving on a hunting trip to North Dakota.

Kevin Covlin, 51, died in the crash, but his hunting dog survived.

Just last week, the Princeton Union-Eagle printed an extensive feature story about Colvin and his business, which is dominated by a half-size basketball court with hardwood floor. The business is FLR Sanders, which installs, renovates and maintains gymnasium and specialty floors in a five-state region.

Flying ran in the family, the newspaper reported. His wife Debbie, a Hope, N.D., native, used to be a commercial pilot until she had ear damage in 1999. Since then, the University of North Dakota graduate has helped run the business.

The couple has four daughters.

Federal officials are investigating the crash.
