Need help doing your taxes? Stop by the library
Detroit Lakes Minnesota 511 Washington Avenue 56501

The economic downturn has affected our lives in many ways, including how we do our taxes! According to Sandra Block reporting for USA Today, the number of taxpayers filing 2008 returns who electronically filed self prepared returns was up 17% from the same period a year earlier. So, if you are one of the millions of people doing your own taxes, your library is here to help. The books highlighted below are just a small sampling of what is available on the subject. The library also has a supply of tax forms and instructions, and if we don't have the tax form you need, we'll go on-line and print a copy for you at a nominal printing fee. However, there are certain forms that the IRS processes by using a scanner, so these particular ones can't be printed from the internet for use. We can help you order these forms from the IRS, if you don't have access to the internet. Good luck on a big return! Note: Library staff can provide assistance locating the forms you need to complete your taxes. They cannot, however, provide tax advice.
