Memorial services were held Wednesday, March 2 at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Wadena, with the Rev. Vaughn White officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Johnson Memorial Home in Wadena (www.johnsonmemorialhome.com).

A loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Neil Michael Shingledecker was born to Neil and Jeannette (Moris) Shingledecker on May 27, 1961 in Hastings, Minn.

Neil's family moved to a farm in rural Browerville, Minn., in the fall of 1974. He graduated from Browerville High School in 1979 and Staples Tech in May 1980, and took employment at AA Johnson Tool Company in Clarissa.

On Dec. 6, 1980, Neil married Diane Brouwer and in the spring of 1981, they moved to a dairy farm in rural Hewitt, where they raised four children. In 2007, they sold their dairy cows but continued to farm crops and beef.

In November 2007, Neil began working in Bertha at Diamond Tool and Engineering, where he was still employed when he was diagnosed in January 2010 with a brain tumor.

Neil enjoyed farming and being able to raise his family on the farm. He also enjoyed his job in town the last couple of years, and spending more time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed camping and spending time at the lake with family and friends, four wheeling, and restoring Oliver tractors with his sons and his father.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; son, Ryan (Klistie) Shingledecker of Pillager; daughter, Jill (Rod) Felt of Detroit Lakes; son, Dan (Ashley) Shingledecker of Hewitt; daughter, Jeanne (Marshall) Thelen of Staples; grandchildren, Eli, Jocelyn, Wyatt and Willow Shingledecker, Caleb and Logan Shingledecker, and Colton and Weston Thelen; parents, Neil and Jeannette Shingledecker; brother, Roy (Alyssa) Shingledecker; sisters, Amy (Philip) Carlson and Marcie (Deron) Greenwaldt; his church family, co-workers and countless other family and friends.
