After school she went to work for the White Earth Recreational Program, where she was in charge of taking the children on field trips. She later went to work at Shooting Star Casino, where she was the lead bartender.
At a young age, Nicki had the pleasure of accompanying her grandparents and their "White River Band," and quickly earned the title of "Little Lady of Country Music." It was during her trips to Tennessee that Nicki was able to meet many famous country music singers. In her spare time, Nicki enjoyed cooking, playing softball, and spending time with family and friends. Her proudest moment was when her children were born. She loved spending every possible moment with them.
Nicki will be deeply missed by her children, Joseph, Victoria and Kathleen Heisler; siblings, Joe ( Michelle) Heisler of Ogema, Kathy Jo Heisler of White Earth, Jacob Heisler of White Earth, Leah Thompson of Detroit Lakes and Michael Maha, also of White Earth. She is also survived by her parents, Cheryl Heisler of White Earth and Ken Heisler of White Earth, along with several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, three uncles and one aunt.
