Nila Fleischman, 73, of Detroit Lakes, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, October 11, 2008, surrounded by family.

Nila Jean Brice, known as "Mickey," was born to William and Ingborg (Erickson) Brice on April 27, 1935 in Cloquet, Minn. She grew up in the Cloquet area, where she attended school. She met Eugene "Orrin" Laverne Sealand and they married on Oct. 7, 1957 in Cloquet. They lived in the Cloquet area until moving to Mahnomen and raising their six children. Nila devoted her time to being a mother and homemaker.

In 1980, Nila moved to Detroit Lakes, where she worked as a daycare provider from 1981 until retiring from working with one of the great things she enjoyed, children, in 1996. Nila met Julius "Bill" Fleischman in 1984 and they were married March 1, 1997 in Detroit Lakes. Bill passed away Dec. 3, 1999.

Nila belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, listening to country music, word find puzzles, the special times at Christmas with her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving Nila are her six children, Lori (Loren) Nelson of Detroit Lakes, Mark Sealand (fiancée Rebecca Meader) of Warroad, Minn., Cheryl (Floyd) Schultz of Osage, Kelly (Tim) Conklin of Detroit Lakes, Kandy (Jeff) Conklin of Detroit Lakes, Vickie Sealand (Ronald Schulyz) of Frazee; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Walter Brice of Burlington, Iowa; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, Orrin and Bill, Nila was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Joshua Morely; three brothers, Kenneth, James and Charles Brice; and two sisters, Karen Brice and Dorothy Raisanen.

A celebration of Nila's life is set for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family. Online guest registration is available at www.daviddonehower.com.
