No serious injuries in Moorhead house fire
MOORHEAD - A Moorhead apartment house was badly damaged in a fire early Sunday, but none of the eight tenants at home suffered serious injuries, fire officials said.
The fire at the three-unit apartment house at 411 4th Ave. S., reported at 5:15 a.m., caused extensive fire damage outside the house and extensive smoke damage inside it, said Assistant Fire Chief Joel Gaughan.
Three tenants reported injuries, two from smoke inhalation, and another had minor cuts on the knee from crawling out a window, Gaughan said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which they believe started on the porch of the century-old home and was originally built as a single-family residence, Gaughan said. No damage estimate was available, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
