No travel advised in Becker County; thin layer of ice covers roads
DETROIT LAKES - The public is being asked to avoid traveling in Becker County tonight if possible.
The Becker County Sheriff's Office said that a weather front moving through the county has brought rapidly dropping temperatures, prompting black ice to form on roads.
"We are asking people not to travel unless absolutely necessary," a news release issued late Friday afternoon said. "If travel is necessary, reduce speeds as ice cannot be seen and the roads are extremely treacherous."
Roads may appear dry but are covered with a layer of ice that can't be seen, the Sheriff's Office said.
